Deep, tense opening moments introduce ‘Nice’, the latest track from Refs. The duo of rising stars have collaborated with Jonah Mutono for the first single from their debut album, Nice. Sharp, distant percussion joins the thick bass sounds and lead vocals, adding another layer of shifting unease to the texture. The vocals of Mutono and Rich Saunders (who has collaborated with Chance The Rapper) guide the track forward, with an unexpectedly catchy chorus full of soaring vocals coming out of nowhere. If the ominous, rolling beats are anything to go by, then Ref’s upcoming debut album is going to be a unique piece of work. - Dan Peeke
